Coaching vs. Therapy
Understanding the Difference and Choosing What’s Right for You.
Many women arrive here unsure whether they need therapy, coaching, or something in between.
I believe clarity matters. You deserve to understand the difference so you can choose the support that truly fits this season of life.
What Is Therapy?
Psychotherapy (counseling) is a clinical mental health service provided to individuals experiencing emotional distress, trauma, anxiety, depression, or other diagnosable mental health concerns. Therapy is usually a long term relationship with your provider.
Therapy services
• Involve clinical assessment and diagnosis when appropriate
• Address mental health conditions
• Follow strict state licensing and HIPAA regulations
Therapy is appropriate if you are:
• Struggling with significant anxiety or depression
• Processing trauma
• Experiencing severe mood instability
• Needing clinical mental health treatment
Therapy focuses on healing psychological distress.
What Is Coaching?
Coaching is not mental health treatment.
Coaching is educational, strategic, and forward focused support designed to help you navigate a specific life season with clarity and confidence. Coaching is usually a short term, 1-10 sessions.
Menopause and BRCA decision making often do not require clinical treatment , they require informed guidance, emotional steadiness, and structured support.
Coaching focuses on:
• Education around menopause, surgical menopause, and BHRT
• Navigating medical conversations with confidence
• Processing complex health decisions
• Identity shifts in midlife
• Creating practical plans for symptom relief and lifestyle support
• Moving from confusion to clarity
Coaching assumes you are emotionally stable and capable of making decisions , you simply want support, perspective, and informed guidance.
Why Coaching Is So Beneficial in Menopause & BRCA Seasons
Menopause is not a mental illness.
A BRCA diagnosis is not a psychological disorder.
They are profound biological and identity shifts.
Many women do not need pathology… they need partnership.
Coaching allows us to:
• Speak openly about exploring all of your options
• Explore evidence informed education around Menopause and BRCA strategy
• Strategize next steps without labeling you
• Focus on empowerment rather than diagnosis
Coaching creates space for thoughtful decision making without the clinical framework that therapy requires.
For many women in midlife, that distinction feels freeing.
How I Help You Decide
If you are unsure which path is right for you, we can determine that together during a consultation.
If clinical therapy is needed, I will recommend therapy services (if you are in Texas) or help you find appropriate care.
If you are emotionally stable but overwhelmed by menopause or BRCA decisions, coaching is often the most supportive and empowering choice. I am not here to replace your therapist.
If you’re in therapy, that relationship remains central to your mental health care. I do not replace your Therapist. My role is to walk alongside you with focused support, helping you move forward on your specific Menopause or BRCA goals.
Book a Consultation
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
Whether you’re navigating menopause symptoms, considering BHRT, processing a BRCA diagnosis, or simply feeling unsure about your next step , this consultation is a space for clarity.
No pressure. No overwhelm. Just thoughtful conversation.
